Sock Bun in 3 Minutes

My go to hair style this past week has been the famous sock bun. It is so easy to do and perfect for second day hair, or when you are in a rush. Some people use an old sock to make the base for the bun, but I purchased Conair's Bun Maker from CVS, and it has been my favorite thing I discovered this month. It's only $6 and it comes with the foam "doughnut", ponytail holder, and 3 bun bobby pins. For all the thin haired girls like myself, this is the easiest way to create the perfect bun. I don't have enough hair to roll the "doughnut" from the end to the base, like most people do for this hairstyle. So here is my sock bun tutorial for a 3 minute bun!

1. Gather your hair in a high ponytail, that it's on the crown of your head. I used a combination of water and gel to tame fly aways and to get my hair perfectly smooth.
2. Place the foam doughnut on the base of your ponytail, and spread the hair all the way around. Refer to picture 4 because this is hard to describe. I also tease my hair a bit so that I know it will cover the piece and look fuller too.
3. Put your hand over the bun part to keep the hair over the doughnut, then wrap the ends around the bun to hold it in place.
4. Secure in place with the bobby pins, and spray with hairspray. And there you go the perfect bun!

You can add a ribbon or a bow to it for extra decoration. I like adding headbands especially when my hair does not want to be tamed! Here is some of my favorite bunheads that I used for inspiration!

Product Review x Organix's Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask

With colored treated, bleached, dry, and heat processed hair this is something you need in your routine ASAP. Macadamia oil helps your hair get back to it's original state and helps with growing your hair out. Not only does it strengthen hair, but it brings back moisture that your hair loses from heat and color.

Now with that background, here is my opinion. I always am looking for new products to try and I have always used the Organix line. For those of you who haven't tried anything yet, then pick up this product. The line is all organic, sulfate free, and won't strip your hair of it's natural oils. Yes, it is easier to pick up the $3 shampoo a shelf down, but it is worth the few more bucks to invest in anything from this line.

I love masks for some reason. I like that I pick a day and do my nails, hair, and face masks all in one hour. If you don't have the time to lay around you can use this mask in the shower. After shampooing, apply the mask as you wash your body, shave, and wash your face. Just replace your regular conditioner with this one a few times a week. I like leaving it on for an hour once a week and 5 minutes 2 times a week in the shower. This mask doesn't weigh down my thin hair, which is a huge two thumbs up for me. And it smells amazing because who doesn't love hair that smells great all day.

I have seen a huge difference in my hair the past two weeks. It has more shine and feels so much more healthier. Going ombre is so damaging and this product has definitely helped my hair bounce back to normal. It is only $8 at target and Ulta has promotions for BOGO 1/2 off on Organix products all the time so check their site regularly too. This is a great product and perfect for anyone with dry or damaged hair!

Grow Your Hair Longer

We all want long locks as soon as you cut your hair a few inches. Here is the top tips to grow your hair back and with even healthier/thicker hair!

ONE
Castor Oil is best thing you can do for your hair to stimulate growth. You can find this anywhere from a grocery store to Amazon. Castor oil can be used on hair, eyebrows and even eyelashes to help them grow faster! By applying to your scalp it aids the growing process, and conditions your hair so it will grow healthier. By applying to the scalp, it changes your hair follicle's so that there is less breakage and thinning. This is great for anyone who colors their hair to even over processed hair. Castor oil brings back the shine and is packed with omega 9 fatty acids so that you hair overall with completely change in length, shine, texture, and how it continues to grow. Because it is a thick consistency, apply a thin amount to your scalp and massage. Let sit for 20 minutes and cover with a shower cap (you can find one at the dollar store). Rinse with shampoo and do this once a week.
TWO
Cut down using your blow dryer/straightener/curling iron etc. Let your hair air dry and try a braid to unruly hair. Using these products is drying out your hair of it's essentials oils!
THREE
Just like your skin, your hair needs protection from the sun. If you are obsessed with the sun then make sure to apply something like a UV hair protection spray. This will not only moisturize your hair, but keep your hair color from fading if you color your hair.
FOUR
Wide tooth comb will be your best friend, because you should not be pulling out your hair with a brush. Use a wide tooth comb when your hair is damp. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Don't be afraid to use a leave in conditioner on your ends to help untangle hair.
FIVE
Get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks. Split ends make your hair look unhealthy and just tell your hair dresser you are growing out your hair, they will make sure to shape it up without hacking it off.
SIX
Moisturize your hair as much as possible. Organix's Macadamia oil hair masks are amazing and packed with everything you need to bounce back to healthy hair. Apply the mask on damp hair and cover with a shower cap for an hour. Rinse and let hair dry. Do this once a week.
SEVEN
Eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly so that your body functions properly. When people are stressed their bodily functions run differently and that is why some people lose hair or have a difficult time fixing beauty problems. Fish and chicken are great because it's full of protein. And anything to bring more blood circulation is always good for the body.
EIGHT
Use the right hair products for your hair. Don't use anything that will strip your hair of it's natural oils. Anything will sulfate will do so and a lot of cheap shampoos or conditioners strip your hair no matter what it says on the bottle. Best products that are affordable is the Organix line. Everything is organic and each product is $8-$10 and works amazing!
